Avril, c'est une belle période pour visiter la Tchoukotka - après 5 mois de nuit polaire, le soleil réapparaît et tout le monde profite de la nature. Il fait moins froid (20° en moyenne) mais les déplacements restent aisés à cause de la bonne couche de neige. Dans le voyage vous pouvez visiter la capitale - Anadyr.
Nous découvrirons notamment le fantastique musée de l’«Héritage tchouktche », une église en bois aux bulbes dorés et une immense statue de Nicolas, saint important de l’orthodoxie russe, aussi nommé Saint Nicolas des Marins. Vous restez 4 jours la toundra pour rejoindre un troupeau de rennes semi-sauvages et vivre le quotidien des éleveurs nomades. Le campement est situé à environ 80-100 km du village, et le trajet dure environ 8 heures.
Vous serez hébergés dans une yaranga, l’habitat traditionnel des Tchouktches nomades, dont la structure est en bois, recouverte de peaux de rennes. Vous pourrez vous imprégner de la vie que mènent les éleveurs dans des conditions arctiques extrêmement rudes et de l’organisation que ces conditions impliquent.
Vous goûterez la cuisine tchouktche traditionnelle, verrez comment se pratique l’élevage des rennes, et comment s’organise le troupeau, et vous pourrez également vous promener en traîneau tiré par des rennes.
April is a beautiful month to visit Chukotka - after 5 long months of polar night , the sun is back and everyone out, enjoying Nature. The temperatures are higher (20°C on average) but the thick blanket of snow makes it easy to move around and travel.
This trip will allow you to visit Anadyr, the capital of Chukotka. Among worthwhile sites are the stunning Chukotka Okrug Museum of Local Lore, the Holy Trinity Cathedral, a traditional Orthodox wooden church with golden bulbs, and the world’s highest monument to Saint Nicholas, a major Orthodox saint and the patron of sailors and travellers.
You will spend 4 days in the tundra, meeting up with a herd of half-wild reindeer and their nomadic herders. You will stay with the Chukchi nomads in their traditional yarangas, tent-like mobile homes made of a wooden frame covered with reindeer hides. You will live in total immersion with the nomads and will learn about the organization required by extremely harsh arctic conditions. You will see how they breed their reindeer and how they manage their herd, will taste their traditional dishes, and will also try reindeer-sledding.
